Due to the fact of this reputation a friend came to his aid and lent him $6,000– Frank was soon back to his profitable work and became the prime source of animals for zoos across the globe. In fact, Frank Buck would briefly hold the position of “temporary” director for the San Diego Zoo on June 13, 1923 until he signed to a three-year contract. This position only lasted several months due to clashes with the zoos’ directors over how the animals were to be caged and treated. ************************** When war correspondent Floyd Gibbons suggested that Buck write about Buck’s animal collecting adventures, Buck collaborated with Edward Anthony on Bring ‘Em Back Alive, which became a bestseller in 1930 and capitulated him to international celebrity while inspiring other adventure books including his second best seller Wild Cargo. ******************************

I’m with the working man. I worked like a dog once myself. And my heart is with the fellow who works.
